He had previously been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, panic disorder, sleep disorder, and had depressive episodes. He returned to television in December 2019 when he joined the drama “Crash Landing on You” (사랑의 불시착), which became the highest-rated tvN drama and the third-highest-rated Korean drama in cable television history. He left O& Entertainment after his contract expired and signed with Story J Company in September 2021. On January 6, 2025, Story J Company announced that his exclusive contract would end in February and that he had decided not to renew the contract.
