Bernthal achieved further recognition as Frank Castle / The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series Daredevil and The Punisher, a role he will reprise in Daredevil: Born Again. The season premiered on July 8, 2019. On February 26, 2018, it was announced that Whigham would appear in the second season of Netflix's The Punisher.
