Egy mindentől távoli, észak-finnországi halászfaluban egy tinédzser holttestére bukkannak. A rituális gyilkosság elkövetésével a közösség egy fiatal lányt, Johannát gyanúsítja. A rendőrfőnök a szigetre hívja Ulla Penttinen nyomozót, aminek a helyi felügyelő nem örül, mert úgy véli, ő is elboldogulna az esettel. A tinédzserek által elkövetett bűnügyekre specializálódott Penttinen csakhamar meggyőződik Johanna ártatlanságáról és a valódi elkövető nyomába ered.
