A 17. században, Franciaországból egymás után indultak el az akkor Új-Franciaországnak hívott (Kanada bizonyos részei) ismeretlen világba a telepeshajók: fedélzetükön nincstelen, meggazdagodásra és szabad életre vágyó férfiakkal, valamint a „király leányaival”, akiket XIV.
